Bella was the kind of girl that was rather silent, she didn't talk to anyone. She was used to being alone, she was in the rec room and no one was there. She had a simple job and she really didn't get to do anything. Her job wasn't important like everyone else's was. She looked out the window to see the beautiful sky, she sighed a little bit. She heard people having fun, she was rather sad, only thing she had was her music, but she heard someone coming in.

The Cardassian got a few stares as he walked through the recreational area. He was off-duty right now, but even at these times, he liked working on things. He was actually looking through some information about some life-forms they'd found when stopping at a small planet. "Why don't you put that thing down and enjoy yourself for once?" one of the men suggested. Indar smirked; oh, he knew how to have a good time already.
He continued to walk, not really looking where he was going. Before he knew it, he was in a side-room, where a woman sat alone, listening to music. He decided to go over to her; she looked pretty sad. "Hey," he said, setting down his handheld computer. "Are you alright?"

Bella didn't bother to look to see who it was, she had tears running down her face. "I sometimes wonder why I wanted to be here. I thought I would have a rank that mattered, but my job doesn't matter to anyone. " she had her hand on the window seeing the stars. "I don't know, that and the fact I have no one, no friends no nothing. Even tho I try as I might...but my problems you don't need to hear about them. Im sure you have better things to do.."

He looked her over, as he took a seat beside her, noticing the tears first; she was upset. Then he looked over the colour of her uniform; red, that meant she was part of communications. He thought of what he could say to make her feel better; humans were so varied. Then again, what he knew of Cardassians was in the body he resided in.
"We really haven't done much yet," he then said. "Believe me, though, someday, your knowledge will come of use." He tried to meet her eyes, but she was averting her gaze. "And what makes you think you can't make friends? Has someone said something rude to you?" He hoped he wasn't making things worse.

She sighed softly, and just nodded her head, she noticed he wanted to look at her, she looked into his eyes and she actually smiled at him. He was unique that was for sure, Bella relaxed around him, just allowing her sadness to fade. When his question came up she shook her head. "No, I try to strike conversation to anyone they say they have to go, when I know they don't have to. Im tired of seeing people happy, and yet here I am, no friends what so ever, it sucks"

It was good, seeing her smile. That was the charismatic Cardassian, working his magic. He listened to what she had to say. It was sad, really, and pretty rude, treating people this way. He was new, and whenever he spoke with anyone, they seemed nervous, but eventually grew accustomed to talking to...well, a giant. It seemed she grew accustomed quicker, herself.
"That's not nice of them," he said. "The crew seemed pretty friendly around here. And there's really nothing wrong with you. Maybe it is coincidence, or maybe you're just trying to talk to them when they're working." He extended a hand to her. "Regardless, I'm willing to be your friend. Name's Indar Merok." He could feel the beginnings of a smile creeping up the ends of his mouth.

"Ive been to many different places its hard to keep track she said kindly relaxing happily.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you," he said, after she gave her name, and they shook. He could tell she was relaxing more, and she explained that she spent her time reading, studying, learning to speak other languages. He could tell why she felt her job was fruitless; after all, universal translators were making most translators obsolete. But then again...
"That's fascinating," he said. "And I can see what you mean. Nowadays, everyone uses the universal translators. But they are machines. They need people to program languages into them; people that know how to speak in alien tongue. And they're bound to malfunction sometimes, and probably at a crucial moment." He smiled, and got to his feet.
"I should get something to eat; you want to come along?"

She couldn't help but smile, she couldn't help but wonder why he was on the ship. But she didn't care. He made her feel like she mattered, with no family she felt alone. But something in her stomach made her think he would be her friend. And of course she knew they would be friends. When he stood up she nodded to what he said, she too stood up and nodded.
"Id like that" Bella said with a smile.
