appearance:
Juliet looks a lot younger than her years, even though she just turned 20. She takes her appearance very seriously and always does her best to make sure she looks neat and proper, with not a hair out of place, even if she's off-duty and wearing jeans and a simple t-shirt.
The best word to describe her face would be innocent. Juliet sometimes gets asked, "Aren't you a little young for Starfleet?" She has an oval face with smooth, blemish-free skin. Her eyes are her best feature, and they are large and blue, fringed with long lashes. However, depending on the light, her eyes can go from dark blue to greyish. Her mouth is full without being too full, and her lips are a natural light pink tone.
Juliet usually keeps her wavy golden-blonde hair up in a high ponytail, and she makes sure it's straight whenever possible. However, her hair is naturally wavy, so if there's humidity or she gets it wet, it dries wavy. She doesn't dye her hair, but there are a few variations on the colour streaking through.
In her bare feet, Juliet stands at about 5'4. She's not tall, and she's not afraid to admit it. She has a slim, willowy body with a well-developed figure for her stature. She isn't athletic, but she can run like the wind if she has to. Juliet is built like a dancer, and even if she's standing still, her body has flowing lines. She moves gracefully and stands straight and tall at all times, shoulders square. She projects quiet confidence.

personality:
Juliet is the type of person who likes to look like she has it all together, no flaws, everything's fine and always will be. She can't stand showing her flaws, and is a ruthless perfectionist. She is a diligent, hard worker with a good sense of priorities, and she takes initiative and does things that need to be done. Among other things, Juliet also possesses a very high IQ. She's very smart, and has a knack for learning, speaking, and writing languages. She loves learning, and is the straight-As, perfect student type.
What with striving to be the best, it's no surprise that Juliet has a competitive streak underneath her bookwormish tendencies. She hates coming second or being praised just under anybody else, which adds fuel to her desire to work hard and be known. She gets jealous fairly easily, and craves the number one spot in everything. She gives most things 110% just to be outstanding, even though it often leaves her exhausted. This attitude gives her an intensity and to the uninitiated, Juliet can be slightly intimidating.
Needless to say, Juliet takes herself very seriously. She doesn't drink or do anything where she could potentially lose control, and she doesn't really like big gatherings or wild parties. She's often told to lighten up, but she likes being serious and work-oriented. It gives her a feeling of accomplishment and makes her feel good. She doesn't always work well in groups, because she doesn't work well with those who are slackers.
Once you get to know her, Juliet will open up to you. She has a shell that you need to crack, and takes a while to earn her trust. She is afraid of people seeing her fall apart, and her trust is very easily shattered. However, once you do get to know her, she is very sweet and caring, underneath her seriousness.
Juliet expects most things to come easily to her, so she gets frustrated quickly. And when she gets frustrated, she gets irritable. She doesn't deal well with frustration, although she does work quite well under pressure. She is levelheaded, and in a crisis reacts quickly and can take control of the situation.
When angry or incensed about something, Juliet's temper flares. She actually does have quite the vicious temper, although it is often buried. She responds to anger with verbally, not physically, and she prides herself on not getting into fistfights. With her quick wit, Juliet can fling insults and has no qualms about being scathingly sarcastic. She can't let go of past angers and holds grudges forever.
There are a few 'normal' things Juliet fears. The first would be blood. She hates large amounts of blood, although she can deal with small cuts and nosebleeds. The second and more prominent one is vomit. If you say you feel sick, Juliet will get away from you faster than you can say 'Enterprise.' Should you actually vomit, she will be out of the room in a flash, hyperventilating and trying not to faint. She just can't deal with it, for whatever reason, so she stays far away from the sick bay.

all that is behind us
all that is behind us
history: Juliet always knew she was different, even when she was five. She was the only child, the baby, the indulged one, but despite that, she didn't grow up spoiled, just determined. She was always smart, and at a young age she showed remarkable aptitude for all subjects, especially the languages and sciences. Juliet's parents encouraged her to learn new languages, and she could speak Vulcan fluently by the age of 10. She mastered Romulan, Klingon, and many more as she grew older, as well as speaking Latin, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Gaelic, and Mandarin.
She was the scholarly one in school, along with a few others, and by the time she was 12 she knew she wanted to be in Starfleet. Her stellar grades and reputation followed her everywhere she went, and Juliet liked the feeling of being one of the best. Her memory was also extraordinarily good, she found out.
When she was 13, her mother was killed in a freak accident. Juliet didn't know how to cope with that, because she'd always had the loving support of both parents. Her mother was her main cheerleader, and Juliet had no idea how to go on. To mask her pain, she immersed herself deeper in her studies, and fiercely pushed away any sympathy. She didn't want charity or sympathy. She just wanted her mother back. This rocked her world, but also pushed her to work harder. Her father became more distant, and while she was used to his attention, she soon found out that if she wanted him to notice her, she had to work harder.
It was hard, being always put-together and perfect, despite everything, but Juliet was afraid of falling apart. She didn't want to lose her grades or her academics or anything, so she pushed herself into exhaustion. Her father finally noticed, and took her out of school for a few months. Juliet recovered well with some TLC and sleep, and soon was back and better than ever. She focused more on her languages and sciences, and then finished high school two years early.
She immediately enrolled in Starfleet, hoping to accomplish her dream. She knew she was a valuable asset with her knowledge and skills, and that was the beginning of a new life for Juliet. She loved it, and embraced it wholeheartedly.
