"I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space."
James Tiberius Kirk – though he doesn’t ,and isn’t, your ordinary run-of-the-mill commanding officer - is a pretty easy-going young man who thinks he’s absolutely dashing and irresistible, and flirts with just about every girl he comes across. He enjoys women a bit too much, the way he enjoys his beer. Despite his laid-back attitude, he’s actually quite brilliant, and tends to have a lot of confidence in himself. He prefers to live in the present, rather than think about what the future holds, but as he furthers his career as a captain, this has begun to change. He has already developed an attachment to his ship; he loves his beautiful Enterprise, and greatly respects his crew.
Jim is a true risk-taker; he gets a high off of his thrills. He loves to party and get drunk. He rarely relies on others for his decision, being a very independent man. He isn’t hard to befriend, and he is a very social fellow. Going above and beyond is a surefire way to become a close friend of Kirk’s, as is sticking to your beliefs, even if it means standing up to the captain. He likes it when people don’t beat around the bush.
Jim’s got quite the big mouth, and this, along with the way he treats women, tends to get him into trouble. He tends to pick fights just for the fun of it, and loves pushing people and seeing what it takes until they will snap. He is quite fond of being captain, and loves the authority that comes with it. However, he doesn’t take it too far; he never abuses his power, and he is loyal to those he trusts. He cares about his crew, and can’t stand to see any of them die; he will go to any lengths to ensure they are alright. And of course, though he tends to sometimes be violet, he does seek peace if the option presents itself; he is a member of Starfleet, after all, and though he doesn’t like all the rules, he follows them – or bends them.
Jim is very intelligent, and good at what he does. At what he likes to do, he is sexceptional exceptional reasoning skills. When he puts his mind to it, he can achieve just about anything – even if it seems the odds are against him. In that case, it isn’t rare for him to even bend the rules, cheat, or take what seems to be the most insane way out, his performance on the Kobayashi Maru scenario a prime example of this. Due to these methods, he tends to succeed, but suffer the consequences as well – usually leading to more complications. Jim easily gets frustrated if something doesn’t work right away – depending on what it is.
Friends
Spock
Previously, Spock and Kirk did not get along; these later diminished after Kirk met with the older Spock, who revealed to the younger one their friendship of the future. Their friendship became even greater as the two boarded the Narada.
Leonard McCoy
Kirk and McCoy are good friends, having been this way since their first days at the Academy. McCoy always has Kirk's back.
Nyota Uhura
Kirk's first encounter with her was in the Iowa bar, where he flirted with her. She continues to maintain her distance from Kirk, who likes to call her by her first name since he finally knows it.
Ripley Todd
Kirk is on good terms with Ripley. He knows she does a (damn good) job of keeping his ship secure, and he trusts her.
